Baby yoga classes generally offer a mixture of movement and relaxation exercises. Classes often begin with a warm-up using songs and simple moves, including infant massage related moves, to welcome mothers and babies to class. Classes then progress to include elements such as yoga
moves adapted for babies (such as mini twists, mini stretches, upper and lower body movements, diagonal movements), postnatal yoga postures for moms, parent and baby relaxation exercises, and exercises intended to support baby’s physical development (head control, sitting, crawling, standing, early steps, first jumps and balances).
In addition to the physical benefits, practitioners also suggest that baby yoga may help with baby’s sleep pattern and digestion. Classes are usually considered suitable for babies 3 months and older, though parents should check with individual practitioners.
