Encouraging, compassionate, and professional postpartum support. My services can include postpartum doula support, prenatal/pregnancy/postpartum fitness instruction and nutrition guidance. I have been a personal and small group fitness trainer for the past 6+ years and have now expanded into the realm of postpartum doula work. I have a passion for helping women and families in their journey into parenthood!
Postpartum doulas offer support to new families as they transition into life with their new baby.
Postpartum doulas offer assistance with everything from nursing and sleeping tips to helping an older sibling adjust. Postpartum doulas may even offer services such as cooking or light cleaning.
Postpartum doulas may work for just a few hours, or may be hired to come several days per week during the early postpartum period.

We help new and expectant parents go from confused and overwhelmed to Calm & Confident.
We are a group of doulas dedicated to supporting you to have the best birth and postpartum experience possible. We work with you to determine which of the doulas on the team will best fit your needs and budget. All of the doulas are vetted and mentored by Melinda Ferguson. She’s chosen people to represent Calm & Confident who she feels are doulas with great heart and intuition for the work. All of the doulas know they can call on her at any time for whatever support, insights, resources, etc. they may need. Melinda has been a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula for more than 10 years, with numerous continuing education events, and a great deal of experience. She regularly trains new Postpartum Doulas locally and around the country. Melinda loves supporting and mentoring the doulas on her team!
We offer several Birth Doula Packages from $600-$1750 to meet your budget and support needs. Our Postpartum Doula Packages are very flexible, with no minimum number of visits. We work with you to determine what will work best for you and your family. Individualized Childbirth or Postpartum Education, in your home is also available. Again, this is flexible to meet your needs based on your specific situation, budget and topics you’d like to learn about. Melinda also regularly teaches the Get That Baby Out! Class at Sprout Birth Center.
As a birth and postpartum doula I provide a necessary support for pregnant people and those close to them. This support looks different for each family and is tailored specifically for you. My role is to support you in your emotional needs while your primary care provider is supporting you in your clinical needs. I do most of my work in the background, supporting the whole family in a way that's respectful and empowering. My role is to place your opinions and viewpoints above my own so that I can truly be by your side the way you need me to be. In addition to this, I bring in my expertise and knowledge to help enrich your experience.
I'm committed to helping parents feel their success through the journey of pregnancy, birth, and life with their newborn. My goal is to assist parents in their own abilities and strengths, to be the coach/cheerleader/encourager that you can know is there for you. I have great joy in helping mothers, babies, and families. I believe in providing support with integrity, respect, and compassion. Given all the ways a birth doula and postpartum doula can support you, it’s best to schedule a free meet and greet to go over details and questions.

Empowered Pregnancy is a group of Certified Nurse Midwives and Professional Doulas working to improve the healthcare and birth experiences of women in the greater Seattle area. We are excited to bring our practice to a new birth and wellness center opening in Kirkland later this year.
We are proud to be the only certified nurse-midwifery owned and run birth center in the State of Washington. Being a certified nurse midwife, as well as a nurse practitioner, allows us to prescribe a wide range of medication that our patients might need, offer nitrous oxide and narcotics during childbirth and provide gynecological care and primary care to nonpregnant women. This enables us to care for women throughout their lifespan.
Our practice offers a wide range of services. We have a full-service doula program, offer a wide range of educational classes, a nutritionist on staff, and a complementary therapy room where our clients can receive massages, acupuncture, and other complementary health services.
Our midwives have over 20 years of experience and have caught well over a thousand babies. Our midwives believe in family-centered care and that the client should be an equal partner in her health care decisions. We have a highly trained and supportive staff so our families can feel safe while having the birth experience of their choice. In the rare instance that there would be a complication, our midwives are experienced in handling all OB emergencies and Evergreen hospital is just across the road from the birth center.
