Classes on breastfeeding are often part of a childbirth education class series, but may also be taken as a stand-alone course. The courses help educate expectant parents on the mechanics of breastfeeding such as latch and positioning, as well as more nuanced aspects of feeding such as determining when baby is full. Potential breastfeeding challenges may also be covered, in addition to strategies and resources should these issues arise. Classes may be taught by a childbirth educator, lactation consultant, or nurse.
